Message from Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) on Inaugural Ceremony of Expo Pakistan 2011
On behalf of the Trade Development of Pakistan, I welcome the valued foreign guests and our esteemed Pakistani participants at the EXPO PAKISTAN 2011
TDAP being the premier Organisation of the Government of Pakistan responsible for trade development is fully cognisant of the importance of show casing the potential that Pakistan has to offer and hence the EXPO PAKISTAN has become our flagship event.
In this 4-day event we not only showcase the finest products of Pakistan but also provide a platform for business to business contact, all; under one roof.
It is an encouraging fact that this year we are welcoming over 400 foreign guests from all over the world.
Pakistan’s Trade Officers abroad joined us in marketing the event to the world and inviting valued international customers to the EXPO, who I am confident, would be pleasantly surprised at the range and quality, as well as the competitive prices of the products being offered by Pakistani producers at the EXPO.
This year; a Multilateral Conference, on Trade and Investment, is also being held during the EXPO.
This conference organised jointly by TDAP, with BOI (Board of Investment) and the bilateral business forums, shall provide an excellent opportunity for serious interaction between the Pakistani business community and the entrepreneurs representing our most valued trade partner countries.
I congratulate the leading Pakistani producers, numbering over 350, who have been selected as exhibitors on the basis of their performance and experience and I am confident that they would make full use of this event to satisfy their foreign customers from all over the globe.
In the end I would thank the foreign visitors and local participants for joining us here at the 6th EXPO PAKISTAN.

EXPO PAKISTAN is a flagship event of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), which has been held annually since 2005.
The 6th edition of the EXPO is now scheduled to be held at the Karachi Expo Centre from October 20-23, 2011.
This year, however, the EXPO aims to be different and seeks to create more excitement from the years before, in a number of ways.
The objective of Expo is to provide one window sourcing facility to Thus it is for the first time that the EXPO, besides showcasing 275 Pakistani exporters/exhibitors, would include 28 Chinese exhibitors, as well as some Japanese manufacturers.

Thus it is for the first time that the EXPO, besides showcasing 275 Pakistani exporters / exhibitors, would include 28 Chinese exhibitors, as well as some Japanese manufacturers.
This is bound to attract a lot more foreign visitors, and help become EXPO PAKISTAN a significant event in the international exhibition calendar.
To promote EXPO as a serious international business event, the first two days shall have restricted entry.
Only foreign delegates shall be allowed into the exhibition halls.
During the last two days, however, the entry to the EXPO shall be opened to public, when spot sale shall also be permitted.
During the EXPO, a Multilateral Conference has also been included this year for the first time.
This Conference which is scheduled for October 20th, 2011 is being held under the umbrella of TDAP, the Board of Investment (BOI), and the Pak-Japan Business Forum.
This would include B2B meetings, and brainstorming session for investors, and entrepreneurs, broken up into five (5) working groups, namely: Agriculture & Dairy Farming, Infrastructure including Energy, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, and Mines & Minerals.
The unique feature of the Conference is that it would be without any speeches, and a potential participant can choose the working group of his (or her) particular interest, and actively participate in the proceedings of the group.
This year’s EXPO promises to be a record breaking event, as far as the number of confirmed foreign buyers is concerned.
An unprecedented 550 buyers have confirmed participation for the mega-event.
Besides the product exhibition, cultural show, and a fashion show is also scheduled.

For this purpose, TDAP provides marketing opportunities to the exporters both at home and abroad.
It also paves the way for international investors and buyers to develop a global interest in our products and manufacturing facilities, recognising Pakistan’s potential as a trading hub.
