Our Fashion Designing & Apparel industry is becoming an important dimension of Pakistan’s economy due to its export potential worldwide. In Pakistan, the significance of fashion industry is being realized in view of its huge potential for future expansion. The importance of building individual brands in our fashion industry cannot be overemphasized. Pakistan’s Fashion Industry requires originality in Fashion designs
instead of merely pirating the prototypes of foreign designers. Where creating a new label / brand from scratch is difficult, an easy way could be Brand Transference from High Fashion EU Countries such as France, Sweden, UK, Italy etc.
In addition, we may build our own brand names in local, regional, or international market – as we may deem fit. We have to look for opportunities for creating new concepts.
In Pakistan, other than catering the affluent and the elite all the fashion designers of haute couture
also have an exclusive line of prêt’ a’ porter or ready-to-wear
outfits, which again, before being introduced into the market are made public at fashion shows. Fashion does not stand still, tastes shift and so do geographic focus. In Pakistan, our designers have really defined creativity and there are dozens of foreign / local educated new fashion designers who have stepped up in the industry such as Maria B, Nadya Mistry (who is a trained designer from Paris), Sonya Batla, Usman Dittu, Samar Mehdi , Maheen Khan, Honey Waqar, HSY, Nilofer Shahid, Ayesha Ibrahim, Ismail Farid, and many more.
To educate our stakeholders about High Fashion Market, TDAP
has been participating in reputed international fashion exhibitions such as Heimtextile, Interjeans-Cologne, Prêt-a-Porter (Paris), Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, Poznan Fashion Week. Furthermore, TDAP in collaboration with CBI (Centre for Promotion of Imports from developing countries – Netherlands) have been organizing series of workshops on “ THE EU FASHION CYCLE” & ‘FASHION FORECASTS FOR EU’ for those exporters / designers who are working in the textile garment sector and currently exporting or intend to export to the European Market. In this regard, CBI has developed garment training cycle in which the “EU Fashion Cycle” was explained through some of its renowned fashion designers and experts. These workshops impart practical knowledge and create awareness for working with the “EU Fashion Cycle”. Through this training, TDAP-CBI provided a good understanding for those who want to be a trustful business partner with the EU or want to become a professional business player in the “EU Fashion Business”
