Mr. Faiz Ahmad
Mr. Faiz Ahmad, a BPS-22 officer of Pakistan Customs Service, has a diversified educational and professional background. He holds a Bachelor degree in law and Honors degree in agriculture. He also completed MSc in Public finance with distinction from University of Tokyo, Japan. Mr Faiz qualified the national competitive examination for entry into civil services and was allocated to the Customs & Excise Group (now Pakistan Customs Service) which he joined on 31.10.1993 in the 21st Common Training Program (CTP).
The officer holds in depth knowledge of varied financial laws, clear understanding of fiscal and economic policies, strong command on international trade and agreements, excellent interpersonal skills and administrative capabilities. Throughout his professional career, he displayed himself to be well conversant with customs and financial laws, rules of origin, economy, trade and allied issues evolving therefrom.
During his illustrious career stretched over 32 years, the officer served in various field formations of Pakistan Customs including i.e. Collector, Collectorate of Customs (Preventive), Lahore, Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement (Central), Lahore, Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement & Facilitation (Central), Lahore and Director General, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Islamabad. The officer also got the rare opportunity to serve out of Customs as Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Pakistan, Madrid, Spain where he made substantial contributions in trade promotion and commercial and economic diplomacy. Officer’s outstanding performance of enhancing Pakistan’s exports by 119% under most challenging circumstances of the Spanish market in its worst recession years was selected as Case Study for National School of Public Policy. Out of his total service of more than 30 years, the officer performed a substantive part spanning over a period of more than 12 years in various capacities at Customs field formations in Karachi.
Moreover, the officer served at all important commercial hubs of Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad and Quetta. He also served as Chief (Exports), FBR (HQ), Islamabad and handled overall supervision of Exports and Exemption functions pertaining to export and other allied matters thereof. Having also served as Secretary Customs Tariff, the officer had extensive exposure of Pakistan’s Tariff Policy, Industrial Policy & Investment Policy.
Prior to joining Trade Development Authority of Pakistan as Chief Executive on 28-1-2025, the officer remained posted as Director General, Customs Academy of Pakistan, Karachi, considering his profuse experience and knowledge to train the next generation of the officers of Pakistan Customs Service.
