Engineering & Minerals Division (EMD) aims to deal with all matters related to development and promotion of the products through all possible means especially by meticulously analysing the global value chain of our sectors and providing the necessary support accordingly. The forte of EMD division has always been in giving market exploration opportunities to our stakeholders by sector specific delegations (incoming & outgoing) and also by providing necessary support so that our stakeholders can participate in the international exhibitions. It spearheads the initiatives for creating awareness and capacity building of the exporters in the respective sectors.
EMD Division also maintains a liaison with the Ministry of Commerce, Provincial Departments, chambers, trade bodies, Export Promotion Committees, and the Pakistani Missions abroad to promote trade. Moreover, the division also keeps close liaison with the industry players of each sector while devising sector specific proposals and continuously updating it in a mutually beneficial manner and transforming this endeavour into an “Annual Business Plan” which is a roadmap of annual activities containing exhibition calendar for participation in sector specific international exhibitions, delegations (incoming & outgoing) and webinars, and lot of such activities have been realigned in the light of Covid-19. Besides, such activities EMD also undertakes any other matter assigned by the TDAP Board and the Senior Management and also oversees the implementation of Government’s initiatives including Trade Policy, disbursement of subsidy of respective sectors.
Finally, EMD conducts continuous research in its respective sectors and accordingly prepares sectoral briefs / reports on the sectors highlighting all aspects starting from the product conception to the consumption by the end customer in the international markets. The division also manages all matters pertaining to policy recommendations for Government including Tariff Rationalization, Sustainable Development, Market Access, Non-Tariff Barriers, and Industry specific challenges; Thus, EMD plays a vital role towards qualitative and quantitative increase in the exports of Pakistan.
